Hi I've homebrewed a subclass and added a few spells to be given to a character with the subclass the spells show up in the spells tab but when I click manage spells and go to known spells it doesn't show any spells added by my subclass. The spells tab is a lot to look at while it's very condensed in known spells each spell only showing up once. I can see with the generic subclasses for druids the spells will show up in the prepared spells list but I don't know how to do it some of the settings I think might do it are detailed a little confusingly with not enough information and it doesn't always seem to update every time I change it so I was hoping if there was a way to do this someone would know
I’m not entirely sure what you are asking so I will answer both questions and one of them will be what you want.
Spells granted by Druid subclasses are usually their “circle spells” which are automatically known, and always prepared. Those spells get entered under the Basic Information section in the field labeled “Additional Specific Spells.” (Don’t put any Cantrips in there as it messes up stuff in the system.)
If you want the subclass to add spells to the Druid Spell List for those characters but not automatically always prepared, then you have to do something different. Create a class feature describing that and all the way at the bottom you will find a section labeled “Additional Spell List.” Spells you add here will show in their list of known spells and will be possible to prepare without being automatically prepared.
Hi, thank you for your response pretty close to my question but I'm using a sorcerer so is there a way to do it with a sorcerer that doesn't reduce the number of spells you can learn.
Ah, your post mentioned Druid and never mentioned Sorcerer at all so I just assumed.
There are two main types of casters, “prepared” and “spontaneous.” Prepared includes Artificers, Clerics, Druids and Paladins, the rest are spontaneous. They work very differently from one another and are not useful as comparisons.
In that case:
If you want the subclass to add spells to the Sorcerer Spell List for those characters so they might choose to learn them, those spells get entered under the Basic Information section in the field labeled “Additional Specific Spells.”
If you want to grant them specific spells without them counting against their number of known spells then you have to do something different. Create a class feature describing that and I’m the middle you will find a section labeled “Spells.” Click “Add a Spell” and then in the “Spell” field list a single spell,* scroll down until you see something labeled “Consumes Spell Slot” and Mark it as “yes” and in the field labeled “Counts as Known” Mark that as “no.” Make sure to designate at which level each spell is learned in the field labeled “Availabile at Character Level.” Leave everything else blank, and ignore anything that mentions “preparing,” you don’t need it since Sorcerers don’t prepare their spells. *(If you list multiple spells at the same time the. That won’t grant them all, it will instead grant them a single choice from that list.)
If you have purchased Tasha’s Cauldron from this website, or at least either of the two Sorcerer subclass from that book you can use one as a template for your subclass as those two subclasses already have a feature that does what you want. The official feature is supposed to let the player swap these spells for different ones but DDB can’t program that yet so the way they are currently programmed works as I described.
Ok. I kind of know how to do that and chances are it may not be possible or you don't know, but is there a way to also have it in the section where it lists your known spells for sorcerers. Also if you mark infinite spells at the bottom you can add more than one spell without being limited to one choice.

The way I explained it will list those spells as automatically “known.” That’s what the “counts as known” is for, to make them automatically known without counting against the total number.
After you add those spells, you then MUST re-save the entire subclass using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information or the system will not pick up those changes. After that. It can take up to 20 minutes for those changes to appear on your character sheet.
And do not check the “is infinite” box! If what I explained is not working, that is likely the reason.
Yes that part works but unfortunately marking no on count as known spells list prevents it from showing up in the known spells section where it list all your known spells under add spells.
Alright, I know for a fact that it works for several reasons starting with the fact that what I explained to do is exactly how DDB programmed the Tasha’s Cauldron Sorcerer Subclasses, continuing through the fact that the way to the fact that I have used it myself many times to accomplish exactly what you are trying to do, and as a finale ending with the fact that I JUST double checked it to make sure I was giving you accurate information.
And it does not need to show up under “Manage Spells” because it is listed on the character’s sheet as already Known. It does not show because It cannot be learned, because it is already known.
So if it is not working, there are only a handful of probably reasons, and 70% would be the result of programmer error, and the rest would be because you are running some sort of ad/popup blockers, browser extensions, or a VPN that may be interfering with DDB.
As an experiment, create a brand new sorcerer subclass and do exactly as I instruct and see if it works:
Create from scratch.
Create a “granted” class feature. (This should be the only feature attached to the entire subclass.)
As part of that feature, “add a spell,” and fill out the form exactly as I instruct with no deviation whatsoever:
Spell: Bless
Consumes Spell Slot: Yes
Counts as Known: No
Available at Character Level: 1
[SAVE]
Then, re-save the entire subclass using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information.
Wait 20 minutes, then test this subclass on a brand new character sheet. If you did exactly as I instructed and are not running any software that would interfere with it then I guarantee you that character will know the Bless spell which is normally not available to Sorcerers. It will not be listed under “Manage Spells,” but it doesn’t need to be as long as it lists on your character sheet.
I don't think you are wrong I think you are misunderstanding. In the section where you add spells under the add spells tab for sorcerers is known spells I was asking if there was a way to get it to show their.

And as Sposta has already explained twice: no, you can't. They'll be added to your character sheet, which is all you need.

Well... there is one way if you add them under “Additional Specific Spells” like I explained here, but then the player would have to have the character “learn” the spell which would take up one of their known spell. Which is what you specifically ask about not requiring.
Is that what you're Sposta do. =) Sorry I had to do it
Be careful, that’s a very dangerous word.... People fight wars over what they believe is or isn’t sposta be or happen. (And when I played more FPS/TPS games, I was also very dangerous, so I needed a tag capable of conveying that. Sposta was the most dangerous thing I could think of. 😉)

Actually even counting it as a known spell doesn't put it on your known spell list which I forgot to mention in the last post is what I want.
