A player in my campaign is using a reflavored greataxe, calling it a Pickaxe. I've made the item, however, it still says its doing slashing instead of piercing damage, despite me editing modifiers and changing damage type to piercing. Is there something else I need to do? Not a big deal if not, we keep the paper sheets around anyway, D&D just makes a lot of things easier (I.e when a player goes on leave) and sometimes we can both be forgetful about some things :D
D&D Beyond homebrew tools don't support homebrew of mundane items at this time - this includes weapons and armor. This is planned for the future though!
Your player can equip a Greataxe on their character sheet and use the customise option to change the name and add in the notes field that it does piercing damage if they wish.
