I have a homebrew lizardfolk race with subraces. I have a character who had one of these subraces. I wanted to delete his subrace and change him to the Volo's official lizardfolk. Unfortunately I tried to do it in that order and now he won't load.
I think support can recover the character (maybe a mod can, not sure), and aside from that the character is doomed. You can contact support with the link at the bottom of any page.
I just had a look and there is nothing a moderator can do to assist here - DxJxC is correct, your best bet is to submit a ticket to the D&D Beyond support team. :)

Okie dokie. Thanks for the responses. Luckily, it was an NPC for my campaign that I was going update soon, so this guy can be rebuilt anyway.
