I have content sharing on, but the only backdrops or backgrounds they can use are the default Class ones, or the EGTW ones - and none of the frames. Are they literally only for my own personal characters?
I'm pretty sure (80%) they are only for your personal use. You can sort of work around it by changing frame/theme/etc of a character, then unassigning and giving it to another player. As long as they don't change any customized options, they won't go away.
Weird... You would think that would be tied to the content sharing of the DM :/
I've noticed the Critical Role guys have all kinds of custom frames and backgrounds and I'm willing to bet they don't all pay for those :/
Why would they?
The frames etc are FREE bonuses for pre-ordering, so technically nobody has ever paid for such things.
And Critical Role is the biggest cause of D&D Beyond's success, and their biggest sponsorship deal - the cast would have been given all content free.

Those 10 people probably didn't pay for their books and backgrounds. The other 3 million of us did. And for all you know, there is only 1 CR account that gets all the books and subscription, and they set their frames and backgrounds doing the same trick I mentioned.
