Choosing magical adept for your own class (example, sorcerer selecting magical adept sorcerer) is supposed to allow you to cast that spell with your spell slots, but the spell isn't showing on my spell list.
Magical Adept is a feat - when picking the feat (as an ASI or from being human variant) would need to select the spell(s) in question add them to the character sheet.
Edit - I blame post launch craziness for me forgetting the name. It's Magic Initiate as the feat name. Re-reading the description of it, it doesn't say anywhere that you can use the spell gained from this feat with spell slots.
Sorce is correct. It's a feat and I messed up the name. I pick spells but they only show up for the 1-time use under the feat. According to Jeremy Crawford's Sage Advice Compendium (http://media.wizards.com/2016/downloads/DND/SA-Compendium.pdf Pg 7) when you choose Magical Adept for a class that you possess (such as a sorcerer choosing MA-Sorcerer) the 1st level spell you choose counts as one that you can cast with normal spell slots. I'd expect to see it on my known spell list.
Also, the cantrips selected remain buried under a few levels of menu expansion in the spell list, and if I choose a spell like fire bolt it shows up in my attack list buried in expandable menu options. If the point of putting spells automatically on the attack list was for convenience, this function runs counter to that goal.

Can you give me some more info on where you are choosing "Magical Adept <Class>". A screenshot would also be very useful for looking into this.
Thank ya
