I am looking for ways to find mounts in D&D Beyond, but the only place that I can find is on my character sheet -> Extras, but that is wildly broken.
I look at the list of mounts that it suggests, and most of them are not mounts at all. Allip, Dust Devil?? LOL
Something is wrong with the mount filter.
That aside, I like that we have Game Rules -> Vehicles, but why have that and nothing for Mounts, or have them a part of Vehicles as a filter? This is D&D fantasy, help us find mounts easier (coming from a DM who is currently looking for mount options for a story line).
Any creature that is at least one size larger than your character can be used as a mount. So if your character is Medium, any Large or larger creature can be a Mount.
Yeah, but most of the creatures that are showing up don't fit the size restriction. Allip is medium - my character is medium. There is something broken with that filter. Give it a test - let me know if it works for you.

What you’re not understanding is that there is no filter. Every creature sized Medium or larger is in that list as a potential mount for all PCs since some (Gnomes, Goblins, Kobolds, Halflings) are Small creatures and they can ride medium creatures. That list isn’t filtered for what creatures your PC can use as a mount, it is a list of every creature available for any PC to ride as a mount.
It's not a filter, but a category. Any creature you add through Extras >> Manage Extras >> Mounts, will be listed under mounts on your character sheet. This is to make it easier to find said mount, especially when you can also have sidekicks, pets, familiars etc
The only two 'filters' applicable to mounts is 'one size category larger' and 'suitable anatomy', with the latter being a DM call rather than a rules mechanic.
As such, the Extras >> Mount option is working as intended
I'm looking for some clarification around Mounts and being attached to he character sheet, especially around the rules for encumbrance. Perhaps, I'm just ahead of development or just too in the weeds. At any rate, It is great that I can add a mount to my character sheet; but is there a way to also add a mounts equipment under other? I'm referred to barding, bridles, saddles, and saddle bags. Or even gear like bedrolls, tinderboxes, etc. that might be left with the mount once arriving to a location.
I ask because our campaign is using variant encumbrance, which we find the gritty realness to be amazing; but we are always showing as encumbered because our mounts equipment is listed under equipment on us. Is there a way to divert equipment that we are not carrying to leave it with a mount or vehicle? I'm curious too (albeit not related to mounts, but related to encumbrance), as this also applies to such magic items as bags of holding, portable holes, as well as Heward's Handy Haversack-- either though equipment with these items, it does not defer weight from encumbrance.
I am no Mod, and obviously I am not Davyd, but I can answer that. In short, you are ahead of Development as you suspected. The common workaround currently is to simply “customize” those items on your character sheet to set the weights to 0 and change the name to “[mount], [equipment]” so that they can group together alphabetically by however you designate your mount, and so you can tell what is where at a glance. (I prefer using emojis as a visual quick reference like this: https://ddb.ac/characters/21942605/SH1LxH)
Alternatively, some folks just manually enter that stuff under “other equipment” and delete the actual items from their personal inventory.
They plan to add functions like “containers” for stuff like this as well as regular backpacks and Bags of Holding, they’re just not quite there yet.

Well that is useless to have a mount filter then. I'd still write this up as a bug or a feature not working as it should eventually work.
