I created a homebrew Wizard subclass. I was having a lot of trouble even testing out changes I was making to various class features since the updates would not appear in the character builder Class tab even after saving multiple times. On occasion, I would be able to see changes if I removed the class from the test character, turned off homebrew for the character, added the class back in with a standard subclass, turned on homebrew, and then switched back to the homebrew subclass I was working on. A lot of overhead just to see any change -- even just a text change -- propagated to the character builder.
This was becoming so problematic, however, that I opted to delete the entire subclass feature at that level to start from scratch in the hopes that this would fix the problem, as I was getting to a point where even with all those steps, I couldn't see the changes in the builder. Now, the situation is that even though my homebrew subclass no longer has a particular feature, the feature still shows up in the character builder.
There is something seriously wonky about the state of the homebrew that's being saved to and retrieved from the database. It seems as if the character builder is just perpetually pulling from cache or an older save, but only for the character builder. If I go to the details page for the homebrew subclass, the feature is gone.
first, make sure you are saving from the topmost save button in the homebrew editor before trying to test stuff out.
second, there are caching issues/delays that affect home brew. You may need to log out, wait 10-15 minutes and log back in. (Or log ou, log in, waiting I’ve seen the suggestion made in that order, too).
