Ok im having a serious issue. Im attempting to a homebrew item to a characters sheet, the problem is the text for the item is not showing up on the character page. I've compared it to ther homebrew items i have made, and i cant seem to find the issue. It has also happened with several recent homebrew addtions. From what i can gather it's somehow to do with the VERY particular nature that D&D Beyond reads the information, ie, the EXACT line space, text layout etc, which is MAJOR BS by the way. what am i doign wrong?
Homebrewing a subclass to have features that replicate some magic item?
Attempting to recreate those items as custom items directly on the character sheet?
If it’s either 2 or 3, then anything entered under the “Description” field is what will be available on the sidebar whenever you click/tap the feature. You have to enter what you want it to say on the sheet itself into the “Snippet” field.
That field is special as is capable of displaying the results of special codes, which you can learn more about here:
Its number 1 actully. I pretty much no what the problem is an it's annoying as hell. if the description of the text is not right againt the side of the text box when editing, then the text will not show up. For example:
Imagine that this text box was where you were adding information in if you did this:
The Minotuar has the ability to rage... the text will appear.
But if you do this
The Minotuar has the ability to rage...
Very light, and frustrating, it doesnt help that often i have no control over it, the oly way to correct the issue, seems to be adding the source code and then backspacing it.
Ah, gotcha. Yes, those little indents and such indicate the the text is coded in a particular format. For example, if you copied it from a monster, it has special coding to designate how that txt fits on a monster stack block, but since a magic item description has a different display size and type, is no good. At the top of the field where you see all those little gray buttons, click the one with this symbol: </>. That will allow you to see all of that code and get rid of the stuff you don’t need. You will have to look up a little basic HTML
