Recently fell inlove with the ide of sidekicks as detailed in Tashas Cauldron of Everything and started to see what I could make. I started by using a kobold as a base.
Following the templet was easy enough but I did notice that when I added them as an extra (as a sidekick) to my character there proficiency was set to 0 and when adding them as a simple misc extra they retained there old +2 stated on the statblock in the monster manual. I couldnt find a way when creating it to change the proficiency and despite manualy trying to set the skills higher it seemd to reset when added to the character sheet.
I suppose things like this are bound to happen but it is annoying.
*edit: I can add that this seem to mostly affect shown skills and saving throws.
Ran into this issue after punching up a mongrelfolk expert for my party. For the time being he's just added as a misc creature, since actually setting him as a sidekick ruins his stats.
The sidekick setting in the extras section of the sheet is designed to be used with the sidekicks from Dragon of Icespire Peak/the Essentials Kit, which follow different rules from the sidekicks in Tasha’s. So for now, adding them via the misc. category in extras is probably the way to go.
