I have a magic item planned for a character and I'd desperately like to remove this text, which appears to autogenerate in every firearm item description:
"It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use."
Has anyone found a workaround for this? Since we can't customize the base damage dice of a weapon, it's not like I can just change it to a hand crossbow easily either.

Does it appear on the actual sheet?
That is not possible as it is attached to the base item.

It doesn't. Good call! Annoying from the DM perspective but all that matters is that it doesn't show up for the players.
Thanks!
