Based on all of the recent subclasses in UA, people are theorizing a new book in early 2020. With that in mind, how likely do we feel Artificer will be getting new options? On the one hand, it just came out, so additional content spo soon could be underwhelming. On the other hand, I theorize that it might include the Archivist. Obviously my polling capabilities are very limited, but the majority of the people I've spoken with were disappointed with its removal. My guess is maybe there were a lot more tweaks that needed to happen, but rather than fixing it and putting it out with the Eberron book, they kept it for the release of the upcoming book. Just look at the subclasses provided so far: psionics, intelligence, magic, companions. Artificial Intelligence could certainly fit with that, right?
So what do y'all think? Could I be on to something, or am I drawing connections where there aren't any?
That's the Archivist, potentially. I am the first to admit my limits on creativity, so I might be off base, but hear me out. Artificers are crafters of magical items, Psions are manifesters of magic through extreme mental discipline. So if an Artificer were to have a psionic subclass, what would it be? I think creating and manifesting a magical mind would make sense. Just look at the names of the class features: Artificial Mind, Mind Network, Pure Information. Or the subtitled names for them: Telepathic Mind, Manifest Mind, Information Overload, Magical Telephony, Psychic Damage, Mind Overload, Infoportation. Or the spell list: comprehend languages, dissonant whispers, detect thoughts, locate object, hypnotic pattern, tongues, locate creature, phantasmal killer, legend lore, modify memory. Looks like a psionic Artificer to me.
I love the Archivist, I just started an Eberron campaign, and one of the main villains is an Archivist that was in the Mournland the day of the Mourning and helped create one of the Warforged characters, and escaped right before the Mourning happened with their Infoportation ability.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Feels like they have all the UA information they really need out of the original Archivist. If, somehow, we do receive a UA Artificer subclass for the thing that released less than a month ago, I don't know if an Archivist Revised would be worth the bother to them, especially when you know they're still collecting information on the base artificer class at this point.
I know, it's a stretch, but I'd really like to see it happen. The archivist is great, and I was sad to see it cut, but I am not completely convinced that they won't put the Artificer in this new book they're coming out with. This book will have new subclasses, new class optioins, undoubtedly new tables to roll on for your characters, new spells, and I think they would also put the Artificer in it, like they took the Princes of the Apocalypse spells and put them all in Xanathar's Guide to Everything, and if they add the Artificer in it, I could see them adding at least one new subclass.

I'd like to see more weird subclasses. I don't care about psionics, but I want a 're-animator' subclass so I can go full mad scientist and have a patchwork undead servant.
I'd like to see more infusions as well, there are only two pages of them, there are a ton of warlock invocations, and possibly a way at higher levels to have two returning weapons at once, I have a player that has a Warforged Battlesmith Artificer that uses returning weapon on one of his daggers, and would love it for a second. I know I could just homebrew, but I'd love to see an official way.

chances are theyll get provisions in the future for doubling or tripping up one thing. Only one book of content currently rather than a lot to build on

Maybe psionic Artificer, considering we got Psionic Sorcs, Wizards, Fighters and Rogue UAs

#confirmed
On a more serious note, this also says a Psion is still possible. Do we think this is true, or more a way to satiate those of us that are complaining?
If they are treating psion as another source of magic, then I say it is possible.
I wouldn't be surprised if they put archivist 2.0 out for an upcoming thing
but I also think they might try tweaking a few things currently. Like the lv3 ability that doesn't quite function the way it seeming intended.
but yeah, I imagine they'll push out a few more things out given new class new shine
