For the Barbarian MI feat combo, it would be better to focus on increasing temporary hitpoints via False Life or Armor of Agathis. Non-concentration lasts an hour, and while raging EFFECTIVELY doubles this THP to BSP damage.
imho
While it's a fun thought, you'd need quite a few levels in a caster to be able to cast either of these at a reasonable level; 1st level is only 5 temporary HP for Armor of Agathys or 5-8 for False Life, I didn't really start bothering with False Life on my current Sorcerer until I could cast at 2nd level which would be at least a three level dip, and I prefer to cast it at 4th level (seven level dip).
Aid cast by an ally would probably be better overall, as it requires no investment from the Barbarian and can boost all of your front-liners. There are also a few other sub-class features that can grant temporary hit points to an ally.
If you want something you can do yourself, you could go Battlerager; a lot of people hate on that sub-class but I kind of like it, and at 6th level it gets temporary hitpoints every single turn it uses Reckless Attack, it's not many per turn but the damage reduction adds up fast with Rage active.

I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.

oh.. 100% agree. but if a choice of Mage armour OR UA Defense verses UA Defense + THP... The THP combo is the better fit, and yes the source is a concern, as the mentioned spells are workable but lacking.
I have a barbarian(wild magic) that took 3 levels into Artificer/Artilleries (RP he is using tech to control the wild magic) that uses the protective cannon to get THP per bonus action. (and +1 AC shield). It works for me.
Gift of Alacrity gives you a 1d8 that you roll and last for 8 hours to your initative. Pretty helpful to a Melee warrior. No concentration, just roll your d8 as part of initative.

As a barbarian once you rage you cannot concentrate on spells
