I am building a Goblin Tempest Cleric for a Forgotten Realms campaign. I would like her to be Good, although Neutral would be ok and I would like to have stealth proficiency to make use of Nimble escape.
Custom backgrounds are encouraged (2 skills and 2 languages or tools along with a background feature in line with others).
I am having difficulty putting this story together, especially when faced with being good or neutral. I was thinking she grew up in a city and did odd (criminal) jobs for the Temple of Talos, but Talos seems like a really evil deity.
I have also though about a bandit background who saw the evil in her ways, but then what is the connection to a Tempest-domain deity.
Rough backstory: (Insert name) worked for a powerful sea captain as a mascot and powder monkey but she always looked after the crew and made sure everyone was happy with various activities and she was often likend to a court jester. Many days were spent sailing the seas and transporting (Smuggling) cargo of all types form one port to another until one day they sailed into a storm which came out of nowhere. (Insert name) prayed to anyone who might be listening to see the ship to saftey and Valkur answered, calming the storm and making sure the ship got home. Valkur appeared before (insert name) and bestowed a boon of faith on the Goblin and told her to always keep the faith and look out for those she sailed with. (Insert name) now honours Valkur each day and offers up prayers and blessing to sailors and voyagers of all types and now travels over both land and sea to extend Valkur's mighty blessings where ever they are needed. She often looks back on her days at sea and now realises that a lot of the work she did was not stricly legal but at least they were not pirates.

If you are looking for a patron for your tempest cleric, I strongly suggest Xolotl, the Aztec god of fire, lightning, death, and axolotls. He looked kind of like a man, but had a dog head, and he was good buddies with Quetzalcoatl. Xolotl was probably lawful good, seeing as how he saved mankind from being imprisoned in the underworld for all eternity.

How about going for Chaotic Good for Alignment, Criminal (Smuggler) for background and taking Valkur for a Deity (link to wiki here: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Valkur).
