While I was navigating on the Cleric class I found they can imbue water with a Holy magic, right ??? But, it seems it's not specified the shape of that "space". I mean, is it a cube ?? is it an sphere ?? is it a cilinder ??
In this case, then I have this MAIN question :
* How many clerics does it need to imbue permanently with Holy magic the Sea of Fallen Stars ( described in Faerun's world map ) ???
Does anyone can see the possibilities of this ?? hehehehehehe...... Holy grails FOR FREE !!!!! FOR-EVER !!!!!
The ceremony spell in xanathar’s allows the creation of holy water. It takes a1st level spell slot, 25 gp and one hour. In exchange, you get one vial of holy water. I’m not sure how big a vial is, but guess not more than a cup or so? So I’d say turning the ocean into holy water would really be a non-starter.
A very small lake is around 100 km3. The average vial is around 10 cm3.
It would take 1,000,000 vials to equal that lake. That means it would take 1 million castings of Ceremony and at 25 gp each time it would cost 25 million gold. For a very small lake.
This is not feasible.

It would be easier and cheaper to get a 5,000 gp diamond and cast Gate spell to the sea around Mount Celestia - which is holy water.

A Holy Water (flask) is made from casting Ceremony on a Vial of water. That's 4 ounces, and is supposedly enough to cover a 5x5 square (not cube) of terrain. It's not very effective. You want the Hallow spell.

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.

I've looked at the equipment and a Flask is listed as holding 1 pint which is 16 fluid ounces. (Going by US systems)
It would take 4 castings of Ceremony to create 1 Holy Water Flask.
Which means it is cheaper to buy Holy Water (50 gp) than to make it using Ceremony (100 gp). Although it does say in Holy Water (Flask) that a cleric or paladin can make a flask of holy water for 25 gp and a 1st level spell slot.
Whoever wrote the Ceremony spell evidently did not pay attention to these details and should have used Flask (1 pint) rather than a Vial (4 ounces).

Sorry just highlighting the absurdity.
Hallow and Gate are still much better.

Ah, wait, I just realised Ceremony is a ritual and that is why the amount of holy water is less: because you could forgo using a spell slot.

So if you cast as a ritual, say you can do it 10x/day, just for argument’s sake. For 1million castings, it would take 273 years, if it’s just one person.
While it’s still not feasible, I think I just had an idea for an NPC cleric who is doing some kind of penance and has to keep casting all day every day until they make the lake holy. Or a holy order dedicated to turning a lake holy that just keeps at it for generations. One person casts the spell while the others keep them safe.

A little late but...you forgot your unit conversions. The real amount of vials it'd take is actually to 1x10^15! An absurdly stupid large number for D&D.

But then, how I could Holify a Lake ????

273 years !!!! woooahhh, that's 1 entire life of an elf !!!!
Then, I could create an elf NPC just for doing this job, right ????
137 years if there are 2 elven clerics ???? that's quite fair....
68 years if there are 4 elven / human clerics...... that's even closer to use humans instead of elves ...

That time would need to assume that dilution of holy water and the water cycle don't affect the potency. They probably would.
Also, that'd be a lot of powdered silver...
Please take a look at my homebrewed Spells, Magic Items, and Subclasses. Any feedback appreciated.
Then, we have to enslave a tribe of Dwarves just to collect those silver we need, huh ????

Then why not any D&D dev or GM can create a Homebrewed Campaign in which the Main quest is "Let's make a Holyfied Lake" ????
