Quick story over view then I’ll get to my question - I was originally playing as an elf rogue who wore a pendant round his neck. The pendant had been identified as having some sort of soul in it. May rogue died and was then engulfed by this soul in the pendant. My new character from the pendant in a Dragonborn Druid. I have taken circle of the Land archetype but wanted to multi class my Druid.
what do you think, Ranger or Wizard as best multiclass?
Druid/ranger works well whether it’s a melee or missile build. The only real problem is spells since it’s a full caster and a half caster Blend nether one ever gets full progression for spells and slots. Hat is nice is that the ranger side gets access to the Druid side prepared spells not just the ranger known spells.
Druid/Mage is hard because you need fairly MAD build , you get full spell slot progression but not spell level for both unless one is only a 2-3 level dip. If you want a minor league Merlin try this with a tie fling 😜
for RP purpose, I can totally see it working either way... May need to ask your DM for a homebrew rule, but ask if you get a little bit of the Land Druid aspect in your wizard, as far as expended spell list being prepared and how they are casted. See if you can use the Wizard modifier for those Druid Spells.
If not, you would still get a couple of good utility spells from the druid list regardless, but as mentioned it will be a little MAD using both Wis and Int for casting, and that may be difficult to run

Also I'm not sure how it would work but I see that could be a little wierd to prepare spells since either class have different ways to deal with it
It actually wouldn't be too hard by the base rules. You would have a set of spells set aside to cast as a Druid from their spell list... and you would have to choose from your spell book... but you would still be restricted by the same number of spell slots you could cast each day.
Now the big benifit is that you would get both Arcane Recovery and Natural Recovery, allowing you to recover more spell slots on a short rest... but you could not by RAW recover higher than your wizard or druid class level. This is definetly nice if the party takes a lot of short rests
Note: Btw I misread entirely and saw that you were a rogue and not druid by default....so the above does not really apply

What made think it would be wierd to prepare is:
It would be able to prepare "X" spells from druid list PLUS "X" spells from wizards list? It would be able to cast wizard spells using druidic attack bonus and DC (WIS based) or it would have two different bonuses?
Yeah, that is what i was suggesting about talking to your DM about.. technically both Int and Wis are mental stats that one could argue might change with a new Soul in the same physical body. Might be a stretch to say that your Wizard can cast some of the druid exclusive spells as a wizard in thay case... But its not technically how the game works

Druid/Ranger is great if you focusing on ranged weapon fighting and I don't see how it could be a good combination with Wizard
I was thinking ranger, I have been given a hand crossbow which would work well.
Thanks for your input. 😊

For game play mechanics.. definitely ranger...

Question is, why would you want to multiclass?

never mind. I already get it.
