I was wondering if anyone has allowed Circle of Land swaps after long rest. Like maybe pick 2 that you feel fit your race? Or play an Eladrin Druid and pick a terrain that fits each season?
Just curious!

I have a collection of Elven and Fey Druid Characters that I play. Some creepy and some not so creepy, but all FUN!
I believe in a mixture of set and flexible features. Druids can already tailor spells via prepared casting and choose wildshapes.
I would allow a change once for player satisfaction if they feel they choose wrong.
Now if your a dm and have a druid that feels behind I suggest interaction with a custom beast stat block based on their terrain. Beasts with proficiency or saves or unique traits that only a druid familiar with a "land" that would have seen its unique creatures.
If you are a player I would ask your dm it may be fine in your group but it would be table specific.
Thank you, that makes sense. With so many beasts to choose from, I could see how cutting it down to what is in each environment would be nice. Then you don't have so many to look up. That's my biggest challenge with the Wildshapes. I took screen shots of the ones that had a CR that fit my level so I didn't have to thumb through the monster manual. I might talk to the DM (who happens to be my other half) about it too. He's new to DMing but once the plan is in place, it makes it easier for both of us.

There's a apendix of creatures by terrain if you need it. Appendix B DMG. This works wonders for rangers as well but many people deny it as useful. Or outright ignore it. This can have gameplay impact. Such as power balance, extra complexity beyond other classes.
I am one that enjoys complexity of such classes but it doesn't have to be hard. There are many 5e tools to "fix" personal preference conflicts using them all is overwhelming but using none causes unfair issues.
Some examples of such adjustments :equipment and/or magic items, unique creatures, boons, encounters design, self restriction, vague rules area designed flexible for adjusting.
The new one dnd templates can also help.( Or even tasha's beastmaster templates) I just don't want to be forced to use that one solution. Start small before stretching out to test the sandbox border.
Oh great! I didn't know that. I will take a peak at the DMG. Makes sense it would be there haha. I had a dense moment.
I'm staying away from One dnd templates for now. I want to learn some of the basics before I start getting into new parameters and such. I watched the latest video about the Druid, but since I haven't really gotten into playing one too much, it didn't all make sense to me yet. I've read a lot of the issues brought up by other players too so I'll be interested to see what happens.
I'll probably also stick to just one land and not try to talk the DM into doing land swaps. I don't want to overcomplicate things too much.
I'm playing the Tyranny of Dragons campaign on Sunday and am going to be a Wood Elf Druid. Might do the Circle of Land Forest or Circle of the Moon. Being new to everything I can't decide if I want to do the Wildshapes more or the Spellcasting more. I've read a lot that say the Circle of Land Forest is kind of weak, but I also believe it's how you play it and what other spells/cantrips you choose to go along with it. I love that after a long rest I can change up the prepared spells. One thing, I don't like being stuck in animal form for a whole hour as I can't cast spells. I might need a party member to whack my hitpoints so I can pop out of it hahaha. I guess it depends if we have a Cleric there to heal everyone of if they are depending on me.
Thanks for your insight!
