I just started playing in a new RP heavy Campaign set in Wildemount. I am a Protector Aasimar Circle of Dreams Druid. I going to multi-class early into warlock. The Wildmother is both my celestial deity and patron. My character background is gladiatorial with a strong aversion to killing their opponents. The Wildmother being a Goddess of Natures' serenity and savagery, requires my character to become a hexblade so that she can guide my hand in killing those that would bring unnatural harm to nature.
From a mechanics standpoint I was having trouble justifying why my Druid would use their weapon. Since in almost all scenarios the Eldritch Blast cantrip would be better than using my spear and shield. I worked it out with my DM that we would nerf my Eldritch Blast by skinning it as my weapon attacks with my hexed spear. Range would be limited to the weapons range and at level 1 hexblade the spear would return to my hand after thrown. To be clear, by making this switch I will not be able to cast EB in any other way. I think opportunity attacks should still require warcaster. As I level up and EB gets multiple shots they will just be skinned as extra attacks.
I would really like it if people could see potential balancing problems with this down the road or have fun suggestions on how the pact of the blade boon could improve this weapon in a non-game-breaking way. Also please be kind, this is my first time doing anything like this.
Sounds cool. I like the returning spear idea. I have a character idea of a dragonborn stars druid/hexblade warlock who's spear or scimitar is made out of starlight. Patron is a dying star. I think that because of the nerf, both become very attractive. If you want some non resisted damage, EB is a good idea. If you don't mind, both are good.

Is your character going to be pretty evenly split between Druid and Warlock? Do you plan on taking both classes out to at least level 4? Or do you plan on doing maybe a 2-3 level dip in one class and focusing on the other class?
I was thinking of taking warlock to at least 3 but considering 5 for the 3rd evocation. I was struggling to figure out what a good split would be. Especially since the hexblade wont improve as normal going forward.
I don't think getting a third invocation is a big deal. Especially if you don't have a build that is reliant on having a combination of three invocations.
The main reason to go out to Warlock level 3 or Warlock level 5 in your situation is for the two 2nd or two 3rd level spell slots you get back on every short rest. You can use those slots for Druid spells like Healing Spirit or Conjure Animals.
As for Eldritch Blast, you could just not select the cantrip as one of your cantrips, and the only RPing you have to do is to say that your patron didn't give you access to the spell. Warlocks don't have to choose Eldritch Blast - in fact, my Warlock doesn't know Eldritch Blast and instead relies on Green Flame Blade and Shadow Blade.
If you're doing a melee hexblade, choosing the Booming Blade cantrip instead of Eldritch Blast could be a good option for you.
If you're thinking of taking 5 levels in Warlock for the Thirsting Blade invocation, that's a good reason to go out to level 5 in Warlock. Getting an extra attack is very nice (although it won't stack with Booming Blade).
I appreciate the suggestions of adding smites, but me and DM thought this over and found that EB (assuming Agonizing blast) would always result in more damage than a regular spear attack + smite. I don't want to purposely avoid a powerful cantrip like EB, I want to use it but just be allowed to skin it like melee attacks. So that my spear wielding druid can have fun effective non-wildshape melee attacking. I was thinking that my hexed blade would essentially be made of eldritch energy.
What I want to do is figure out how I can make the Pact of the Blade boon improve this EB/weapon that isn't game-breaking. Additionally, seeing how I could tweak Improved Pact Weapon and Thirsting Blade evocations. The +1 to atk and dmg rolls and extra attack would not be balanced with using EB considering it naturally gains additional beams.
It sounds like you have decided that you want to use Eldritch Blast, so I suppose this means that Charisma is your primary stat. It sounds like you're more interested in being a blaster Warlock than in being a Druid or in being a Hexblade Warlock.
What exactly are you hoping to get from being a Druid if you're not interested in using Shillelagh? Why are you going Hexblade if you're not going to use the Pact of the Blade or even use their Hex Warrior feature?
Why not just play a Pact of the Tome Archfey Warlock or Pact of the Tome Celestial Warlock? It's fine to want to do an Eldritch Blast based Warlock, but it's not clear what you expect to get from taking levels in Druid, choosing the Hexblade Patron, and choosing the Pact of the Blade.
The Warlock/Druid! I love this multiclass! Its my favorite, actually. So, Circle of dreams with hex blade? And a hoplite dream warrior theme to go with it. Cool as hell. If your not actually using a weapon then probably not pact of the blade, I would say pact of the talisman to be a sort of tether to the dream realm and to help your chances occasionally. Of course, Agonizing blast and Eldritch spear are both a must on this build. Or, yes, you could do pact of the blade instead and take the high damage that comes with it. But if I were you I would focus on magic damage using Druid concentration spells and your spell-weapon as a conduit while having some serious self buffing abilities themed as dream magic to make an effective damage/tank/support character who dominates combat, social, and exploration scenarios. I love this multiclass.
