Ok so i'm a bit lost with Beast Bond and Beast Sense because they kinda seem like the sort of things you do on your pet/companion that as a druid you don't have...
Beast Bond isn't the sort of thing you go out and befriend/charm an animal when combat starts. It sounds more like an ability you cast at the start of combat on a companion. Does any animal just let you cast it on them in the wild with a successful animal handling roll and then you have a temporary companion or what?
Beast Sense seems to be the same type of thing except you use it for scouting and the like.
Sadly conjure animals is a concentration spell too so you can't use Beast Bond or Beast Sense on them.
Honestly Beast Sense and Beast Bond seem useless from what I can tell unless you have a companion. Using a spell to charm an animal seems like something a druid wouldn't do since it's kinda like forcing them to do your will which seems to go against druid concept.
Also a shepherd seems odd to not have at least a companion since shepherds tend to flocks of animals.
Both spells are available to rangers also, who may find more use from them.
In a group I DM for, the Barbarian can cast Beast Sense as a ritual and has used it on the Moon Druid in beast form, so that the druid can scout ahead and relay information back to the party. I wasn't 100% sure whether this is intended to work, but was a clever use of the spell, so I allowed it.
Beast Bond could be used to find out information from a beast, that would otherwise not be available. Again, the same group as above, the druid used this spell on a horse that she had calmed down, when they came upon the site of an ambush, where the wagon was attacked and the people missing. The horse was able to communicate effectively enough to give them some additional information about what happened.
Like many spells, they have specific scenarios they can be really useful in.
