I really liked the Mordenkainen's Codex of Allies Witch Hunter subclass for Fighter, and, I like the idea of two-weapon fighting in melee, but using a bow for range.
Because reasons, I'm interested in playing an albino Drow. That gives me a +2 to DEX (+1 to CHA, but that's a dump stat, anyway. He's an Urban Bounty Hunter, because Stealth. My plan is to take the Two-Weapon Fighting style, and use a shortsword and scimitar as the two weapons. Longbow for ranged. This is going to be a backup for a level 9 character, with "similar magic items" as the current one. My goal is a +1 shortsword, Oathbow, and maybe Bracers of Archery?
Abilities (after racial bonuses): STR 11 - DEX 17 - CON 15 - INT 10 - WIS 12 - CHA 9
DEX and CON are high, which is good, but the Witch Hunter has some spells built in, which are based on WIS. So, all of a sudden, I'm MAD. Are my stats fairly decent? Don't really want to drop STR any more, and he's got to be fairly intelligent, for RP reasons... I can ASI the WIS eventually, I guess.
But a feat would be nice. I'm thinking Elven Accuracy, or Sharpshooter. Suggestions? Is this a decent, flexible build?
Well you have 4 odd abilities which don't really contribute anything. Assuming point but you can do 10 15 14 10 14 8 (pre racial mods). This way you can get +1 dex with Elven accuracy to round it off.
Why would you not drop str to 10. I don't see it making any difference in the long run since you'll be using medium armour, I reckon.
What type of spells does the WH cast? There's quite a few spells in the game that don't really need your casting stat to be super high. As a fighter, you'll have 3 ASIs already to balance out your stats, if I'm not mistake, so you can easily round off whatever needs to be rounded off.
Witch Hunter gives you Protection from Evil and Good, Detect Magic, and a choice between Green-Flame Blade and Produce Flame. Those are based on WIS. GFB, in my case, is the important one here, for damage.
Drow gives me Fairie Fire, Darkness, and Dancing Lights, based on CHA. Fairie Fire is the important one here, for advantage.
And, to be a Fighter, you have to have high CON and DEX (or STR)
Since it's a home brew class, maybe I can plead with my DM to make the subclass features based on CHA? So there's only 3 abilities tied up?
The build does not need Strength for anything. Charisma is useful for non-combat encounters and some few spell saves. Making Strength your dump stat makes more sense..
You only have a couple spells to worry about for that wisdom modifier, so i don't think having a low wisdom will impact you much. The spells you get require no saving or attack throw so your wisdom score is not very important. (assuming this is the same version that appeared in Unearthed arcana with the Gothic Heroes set.) I would suggest being a Brute Fighter from Unearthed Arcana, especially with a dual wield dex user. Maybe even look at taking the Drow High Magic feat for a little more spell options for a Fighter class. I think I would take Elven Accuracy before Sharpshooter, but for me that is just a personal thing (not necessarily the best).

Of the 4 spells you listed provided to you by Witch Hunter, Protection from Evil and Good and Detect Magic are buffs with no scaling whatsoever. Green Flame Blade's damage to the secondary target is based on your casting modifier, which would be Wisdom in this case. While Produce Flame does scale, it does so based on character level rather than stats. Ultimately, whether Wisdom as an offense stat is relevant to your or not is whether or not you intend to use Green Flame Blade frequently. You've listed Archery for a Fighting Style, along with Bracers of Archery, so it sounds like you'd prefer to stay at range.
Of your Drow Racial spells, neither Darkness nor Dancing Lights scale in any way. Faerie Fire triggers a Dex save, which would scale the DC based on your casting stat, which in this case would be Charisma. If anything, this is where you need to be redistributing stats to, because you are trying to run on a 9, which will not contribute significantly to the Dex save DC of your Faerie Fire. Spell save DC is derived from 8 + (cast stat mod) + (proficiency). That 9 in Charisma is going to give you a -1 mod, so until you get your first bump to your Proficiency modifier you'll be sitting at a Dex save DC on your Faerie Fire of only 9. It's going to be really, really, really easy to evade your casts of Faerie Fire.
That makes sense - think I'll lower my WIS, and bump up the CHA slightly, so I can get better results on Faerie Fire. And, take Produce Flame over GFB.
