So if I'm understanding it right rage plus claws plus unarmed strike plus Flurry of Blows ... icky
Functionally, a tabaxi's claws are their Unarmed Strike. I think what you mean to say is Claws + Martial Arts + Rage. That only works if they're attacking with strength instead of dexterity. The build would be insanely mad. You'd need strength, dexterity, wisdom, and probably a decent constitution.
Since you can't get Extra Attack or Unarmored Defense twice, you'd have to start and primarily level as a monk. And you're not taking more than 4 levels of barbarian, whenever you decide to dip, which means the benefits of rage are minimal.
I'm not sure that's worth it. Especially when you stop and consider how many other monk features you'd delay or skip entirely. Personally, I'd rather the DM just give me (or let me make) a flame tongue shortsword.

I'd agree that it probably isn't worth it, but I'd say probably start barbarian instead since they have the better unarmored defense as this build is likely not going to use stunning strike heavily.

I don't think it'd be that hard to balance; if your aim is to be able to take more damage then you can sacrifice Wisdom and go STR/DEX/CON for the Barbarian Unarmored Defence, so that you're gaining the Rage + Patient Defence combo for a build that can not only avoid a lot of hits, but more easily take them if they land anyway (especially if you level Monk enough to get Evasion), but at the cost of Stunning Strike. And you only really need that single level in Barbarian, though the second level is also nice at which point you may as well go to four.
I'd say the extra Rage damage isn't what you'd be aiming for, as +2 is fine for a quick dip, you'd need to invest too many extra levels to raise it and it doesn't go that high anyway.
I still say this build still needs wisdom more than constitution. Five levels of monk mean Extra Atack, a Martial Arts die of 1d6, Stunning Strike, and their archetype. And if anyone is going that far, they'll definitely want a higher wisdom score for their saving throws. I'd hate to have the DC set at 12 at 5th level, or 13 at 9th.
I realize it's been over 3 years since this was posted but I should mention this no longer works due to the fact that Green Flame Blade, and Booming Blade for that matter now require a Melee Weapon worth at least 1sp it's that value distinction that now disqualifies natural weapons as they don't have an assigned value.
