As a person who loves playing monks I would love to actually see a weapon set for them. While I know we all can use our imagination to make a weapon set out of the basic weapons does anyone know where a true set of Monk weapons and stats are located for those that are just breaking into playing the character and want to see something more concrete of Monk weapons? If there is no list, how about we make this forum a list of "Monk Weapons" you have used in your games and make a master list to be used until an official one is rolled out?
Jokes aside, there's probably a couple weapons that monks can decently use on the compendium, such as the Quarterstaff, but it would definitely be interesting to see more versatile stuff such as knuckle dusters, claws and fighting gauntlets.
I made a European style monk "Irish brawler" and had a bag of holding filled with Chairs, Tables, Bottles, and anything else that could ever be useful for starting a bar fight in the middle of the forest. Just don't forget that improvised weapon feat :P

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination. I will protect those who cannot protect themselves, I will protect even those I hate so long as it is right.
Thanks I was proud of that creation as well. Can't wait to see the the look on my DM's face when I throw my first chair in the middle of a cavern.

OMG!!! I am so stealing that idea when I get to play a Dwarf Monk again! That is great, even if it doesn't cause extra damage it just screams Dwarf Mentality!!
Last night we were looking for anything that would be in the fighting gauntlet style...couldn't find it so my Monk went from being a Brash young Fighter from the temple, to an older, slowly walking with a staff Monk (we aged him to 54 years old since it was our first game with him). And I kind of morphed him into a Yoda-themed Monk. Slow and wise until the fight is needed.
LOL that is great! Inspires me with a homebrew idea I have been kicking around. Permission to morph that with giving you credit as well if I use that idea of the bag of holding?

This was in response to the bag of holding idea, holding chairs and such for the fight.

I'm a couple days from starting a game playing with a homebrewed Drunken Fist Monk. With the rules were using, at level 3 you gain proficiency with improvised weapons and improvised weapons are now considered as monk weapons. In addition, creatures have disadvantage on Opportunity Attacks against you. Until then its all unarmed attacks and my DM allowed me to have a reinforced drinking gourd that's used as a club, but also has a cloth strap I can use to wrap up an arm or weapon with. Should be fun. But a few ideas for unarmed other than gauntlets would be nice.
kind of hoping they add the ability to search by class what items a PC can use.
So if you click monk, it'll come up with the standard weapons they're proficient in, and then they could add a second table for alternative weapon sets that monks can use, so gauntlets , knuckle dusters, chairs...bar stools....well pretty much anything they can get their hands on
I really appreciate the idea of the feat for Improv weapons, I would have never thought of it. Thank you!!

Best monk weapon is called fists. Hah.

Thats bloody brilliant. An official list would be nice, but with ideas like this, the skys the limit.
I took inspiration from comic books. Weapons used by Daredevil, Nightwing, Ninja Turtles, and Robin.

I once read about a Dwarf Monk that brawled with fists made out of his beard. Wish I could find that story again.
