Have a tortle monk in my group, and he found bracers of defense, but once attuned it didn't raise his ac. Can tortles not wear BoD or is this a beyond glitch? He has a cloak of protection and that works.
Hi there - it seems that the Bracers are treating the Tortle racial shell armor as if it were actual armor, so the +2 bonus is only applying to the Monk "Unarmored defense" calculation.
I'm not sure whether this is correct, so will check with others.

The wording of the trait suggests it shouldn't. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
They definitely should work with the racial armor bonus.
Just add it in by recalculating the armor.
