So I'm making a paladin for the first time for CoS, I haven't started yet but I put him up to level 3 just to see the different oaths, forgot to put it back and when I checked the character sheet for something else I noticed it was there 3 times in my spell list, now I have it learned at level 1 but wondering what the other 2 are, is this just a glitch?
What was the cause of this? I am having the same issue but the reply telling you the cause isn't showing for me.
The reply was mine, and it's not there anymore because it got spam-flagged by mistake. Unfortunately I wrote that two years ago and I don't remember exactly what it said.
The spell should be there twice — once for your once-per-long-rest free casting of the spell, and once for casting it using a spell slot. I don't immediately remember why it would be there a third time, but if you set the character's privacy setting to Public and post a link to it here, I can take a look and see if it jogs my memory.
Oh wow thank you for replying so fast! It is only there twice, but I thought that was a mistake - it's my first Paladin, so I wasn't sure. Thanks so much for clarifying :) much appreciated!

No problem!
You'll see this behavior any time you have a feature that gives you the ability to cast a spell without a spell slot (usually a specific number of times per long rest) while also letting you cast it with spell slots. Feats like Magic Initiate, Fey-Touched, etc. will do the same thing with their spells, as will species like Elves and Tieflings that grant spells like that.
You will also see it (and all other upcastable spells) in every spell level, representing you upcasting it with a higher spell slot. If this is also your first caster, that can be a little confusing at first as well.
