My halfling pally gets a ton of use from the off-the-shelf find steed. I go mastiff, so it’s a medium mount and can navigate indoors easily. I’m ancients, so misty step gets us past most obstacles a mount would otherwise have problems with. In combat it gets dicey against AoE’s, yes. But otherwise it just dodges every turn which has really helped in melee. Still gets one-shot when it gets hit, but it’s easy enough to cast again. Mostly, I look at it as a spell slot to give me a 40 move instead of a 25. And out of combat, it’s good for tracking, or leaving someplace to let it guard an area (advantage on perception using hearing or scent). I assume since it’s a celestial it doesn’t need to sleep, so it can take watch at night, also.
I would not spend the feat, though. I’m only going to get 3-4 of those in the whole campaign, spell slots I get new every day.
