So I was curious about the oath of conquest and it’s aura of conquest feature and how it interacts with the fear spell. The feature states “If a creature is frightened of you, its speed is reduced to 0 while in the aura, and that creature takes psychic damage equal to half your paladin level if it starts its turn there.” The fear spell says “You project a phantasmal image of a creature's worst fears. Each creature in a 30-foot cone must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or drop whatever it is holding and become frightened for the duration.” since the spell doesn’t say anything about you being the source of the targets fear does that mean your aura of conquest wouldn’t work on the creatures affected by the spell since you aren’t technically the what is causing the fear condition.

They're intended to work together, per the game's lead rules designer. In a roundabout way, the Fear causes the target to be frightened of you by altering how they perceive you.

You are clearly the source of the fear. The image is a method of delivering the fear (media), not the source.
Thanks. Sorry I just saw that there are plenty of threads that answered this question.
