Do note that the cheese factor will be countered by your DM after 1 or 2 sessions at most in the form of polearm of enemies wielding reach weapons and possibly more ranged combatants lol.
Or just having two enemies come at you, since sentinel uses your reaction and you only get one of those.
Sentinel is a very good feat, don’t get me wrong, it’s just not really as cheesy as people make it out to be. And using it with a polearm and keeping the enemy 10 feet away means you don’t get the benefit of the third bullet, which is arguably at least as useful for stopping enemies from attacking your allies.

By third bullet I am assuming you are talking about the bonus attack granted by PAM? If so why would you not get the bonus action attack? Unless you are talking about your normal reaction attack from a AOO, in which case then yes the enemy could potentially get around you. The solution is good positioning to ensure it cannot happen, if that is not possible then just stay in the 10 ft range.
Oh, I was unclear, my mistake. I meant the third bullet in sentinel. Where you can attack someone who attacks an ally, but you have to be within 5 feet. Of course that also uses your reaction.
Ah I see what you mean now. In those instances your ally will be pretty much almost next to you and already engaged with the enemy, if that is the case simply walk into 5 ft range before attacking. If however the enemy has not engaged your ally yet then simply move right next to your ally after you make your attacks at reach. If your ally is standing right next to you ie. within 5 ft then your reach weapon should be able to let you whack them regardless of the direction they approach, even from the opposite direction (just tell your ally to duck when you take your swing). Unless of course the enemy is also using a reach weapon.
Then there is also the defensive PAMtinel, in which you go shield and spear/staff and get in their faces at 5 ft.
I think the synergies you get from combining the two feats are powerful enough to make up for making it difficult to milk every single drop out of Sentinel. But like I said, I wouldn't be looking to do this on a Minotaur Conquest Paladin that wants too many stats and doesn't have a bonus feat. Leave that shtick to the variant humans and fighters with an abundance of ASIs.
