Playing Curse and am a Revised Ranger - Tabaxi w Monster Slayer archetype. Picked aberration as my greater favored enemy at level 6 and was curious what people thought would be the appropriate language to go with it. I'm guessing elemental, but was wondering what others thought and what you all thought of doing like a made up aberration language - like my ranger can get a little insight from their grunts or body language.
Character already knows Undercommon, Common, Deep Speech, Abyssal, and Infernal. Looking to be more roleplaying with the choice rather than practical, so if I never use it in Barovia that's fine, just looking to be fun with it.
Thanks!

Heaven doth with us as we with torches do, not light them for themselves.
Undercommon and Deep Speech pretty much cover all the bases for aberrations. Mind Flayers have a written language called Qualith, but the Monster Manual says it's so alien that it requires magic to be understood by non-illithids. Personally I'm not a fan of discerning body language because aberrations are supposed to be utterly alien in nature.
I know it's not the answer you're looking for but I'd pick Dwarvish or Elvish, since if you hang around the Underdark long enough you'll run into Duergar and Drow.
I would agree, Dwarvish is always good, but it also depends on your campaign. I find it best to work with the DM to pick a language that fits, either what you have encountered a lot of, or will encounter and would have a story reason for learning.
