With the release of Ghosts of Salt Marsh, I would have thought a ranger could take the Sahuagin language since he can take the race as a favored enemy.
Does anyone see an issue with house ruling that this is possible?
I can see how useful that would be considering that they figure prominently in the adventures in the book and the content that James has provided in his weekly encounter series. I'm surprised that it wasn't added.
My player wants to build a backstory where he befriended an outcast Sahuagin, and that is how he learned the language. Only to be betrayed by this same Sahuagin, who was using him to gather information on his coastal village so his tribe could raid it and enslave the inhabitants. He is usually pretty good about roleplaying, but he likes to remain "canon" so he was upset when he could choose it in the builder.
DD:B seems to already add the Favored Enemy languages when you select the Favored Enemy. I remember when I was creating the character, though, that something seemed wrong about how it did it until I hit the actual Character Sheet at the end that I was able to see it all working correctly.

As always check with your DM, personally I don’t see any but the strictest DM having an issue with a player picking any language they want.
