I've been thinking of making a backup character for a campaign I'm playing in and I've been stuck between bard and sorcerer. For the race I'm going to go for tiefling. I want a primary spellcaster who can do good in combat and also help out a lot outside of combat. Here are my reasons for these two classes:
I'm personally a big sorcerer fan, and not at all a bard fan.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

I want a primary spellcaster who can do good in combat and also help out a lot outside of combat. Here are my reasons for these two classes:
SORCERER
Can do a load of damage
Doesnt have to prepare spells
Is good with charisma
Has a point spending system
Has access to lots of spells
BARD
Has good support spells and features
Heals people during short rest
Charisma
Can also be a blade-clasher

Let me know what you think
It really depends on your play style and both can be fun; Although I think Bard is mechanically better overall, sorcerer has some pretty nasty spells.
Thanks, I'll see what other people think but at the moment I'm leaning towards bard.
