How good is the concentrationless 1 minute Summon Fey? Is it that amazing if it only lasts for one or two fights?
It’s great. The one free cast is great. The spell free of concentration is great. The added action economy (for damage, utility, soaking up hits, whatever) is great. The ranger class gets a lot of punch from its spells being cast. Conjure Animals being a super effective (even 2 brown bears does amazing things for the ranger and it’s allies), but like many of the greatest ranger spells, concentration is required, and this reinforces the archer build, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily. Conjure Fey for this subclass further allows a solid melee build (other than the hunter subclass), adding on top of dreadful strikes very nicely.
As someone Who has been playing a Fey wanderer Kalashtar (level 11), probably one of the best ways to Prock Beguiling Twist is a Pipes of Haunting. Due to limited range is probably best on Melee Fey wanderer, but just having in the area of frighten all around you and then being able to pick and choose who you want to charm and frighten is amazing. Also while Summon Fey is a good source of damage, it has many other applications. you can use items with their actions which free up your action. You can disarm your enemies of their weapons or items and then teleport away (Rage version being the best for it). You can use the darkness version to cover your allies, giving them a free disengage from enemies or give enemies disadvantage against them. You can use the charm version to either prock Beguiling Twist or be charmed by you and it for an entire minute. overall well Fey wanderer lack a little damage, it more than makes up for it with utility and tools to do very creative things. (Also amazing charisma checks!)
