It says you can telepathically link with a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus. My question is are you counted in that number. For example if your proficiency bonus is 4, can you link yourself and 4 other creatures. Or Only yourself and 3 other creatures.
You do not include yourself, as you are included automatically in each link; "the chosen creatures can speak telepathically with you, and you can speak telepathically with them".
Basically if you have a proficiency bonus of three, then you can create up to three links, where each link is between yourself and one other creature. This may be important to keep in mind as unlike spells such as Telepathic Bond this does not enable communication between all participants; so strictly speaking communication only occurs to and from you, so you get to decide which messages to relay between the others.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.

Basically turning you into a cellular tower. xD
A little thing I've seen are "Earrings of Whisper". Pretty common homebrew that you can adapt to your campaign... Those would allow use of Message to multiple recipients, as long as they are linked.

You don't count toward the number of creatures you can telepathically link with.
