I am playing a hafling swashbuckler and received a Longsword of Sharpness. When I add this to my character it does not applying proficiency bonus even though I am proficient with Longswords. Trying to determine if this is a bug with DNDBeyond or if there is something I am missing on my character that would prevent me from getting the proficient bonus that I am just not seeing.
(Minor rant: why are rogues even proficient with longswords? They cant sneak attack with them or use their primary attack stat with them. They will 99% of the time use a dagger over a longsword, so why bother?)
You are probably seeing a lower hit modifier because longswords use STR to hit and damage, not DEX. If that is not what you are experiencing, post a link to the character.
Yup. That is correct. I saw I was proficient with longsword and it was blowing my mind because I also have a sunsword, which looking is classified as finesse. Problem solved and makes sense to me. Thanks for the answers.

Hello,
I am playing a hafling swashbuckler and received a Longsword of Sharpness. When I add this to my character it does not applying proficiency bonus even though I am proficient with Longswords. Thank you
Longsword is not a finesse weapon so it should be using your Strength bonus rather than your Dexterity bonus.
Long sword doesn’t work with sneak attack is the big issue here.. I wouldn’t use it
You might have gotten proficiency with it in a weird way and it might be a bug. Just edit the weapon and check proficient.
