So I'm looking to play a Shadow Sorc in a new campaign I'm joining. I've got some questions about the Hound of Ill Omen.
- Is it worth utilizing the Hound of Ill Omen at higher level play? It seems like it will just get nuked in higher level encounters and doesn't really have a great AC (this is coming from someone who is accustomed to playing a tank character)
- Can I use buff spells like Enlarge/Reduce & Haste on my Hound of Ill Omen?
I think its main reason for existence is to give you a few turns of the enemy being disadvantage on their spell saves. I see this as a feature you use when you have a big spell that you REALLY want to stick on the target. Don't forget it also get to knockdown enemies that fail a strength save, which can be good for your teammates as well. I don't think it is expected to live for a long time considering its max duration is 5 minutes. LATE late game it strikes me as just a way to again fish for that one awesome spell to really do its business on the target.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
