So I have been wanting to play a Sorcerer Warlock multiclass. The Shadow Sorcerer is awesome but I like playing neutral or good character so this was my idea. The character would start at level 6. Is eldritch blast enough damage. He would be more of a control caster. Am I missing anything? Which meta magic would work best?
Half Elf Drow Variant
Spells: Dancing Lights, Fairy Fire, Darkness
Shadow Sorcerer: level 4
Metamagic: Twin Spell, Subtle Spell
Cantrips: Message, Prestidigitation, mage hand, ray of Frost, frostbite
To make the most out of being a sorlock, it might be worth picking up the quicken spell metamagic. This lets you quicken a spell and still dish out great damage with eldritch blast. It can even be good for simply using eldritch blast twice! This is especially true if you've used darkness, faerie fire, hold person, or guiding bolt to gain advantage on the attack, triggering your elven accuracy super advantage. I would probably give up twin spell in favor of quicken, but that's because i really enjoy subtle spell.
I might trade out ray of frost for another cantrip, as you already have enhanced eldritch blast, which is virtually never resisted and does much better damage anyway. Frostbite and thunderclap might occasionally come in handy, but I wouldn't take them unless i particularly enjoyed the flavor of them for this character.
I don't know how you intend to level this character, but i would recommend taking at least one more level of sorcerer to get third level spells. Generally, sorlocks take the rest of their levels in sorcerer, but that's far from required.
Those are really good points! My DM is very strict on spell casting being obvious and audible so subtle spell would work great. I am currently playing a divination wizard but he was my first character and only has 26 hit points at level 6 so I think he is just going to get one shot soon
Why would a shadow sorcerer have to be evil? I don't see them as needing redemption at all.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
That's a good point I was more looking at it from the characters perspective where drow are typically evil and he would be half drow. That's where his sorcery would come from.
