Id like to play an Aberrant Sorceror, but want to refluff it to align with a Shadowfell Origin character. I know I can refluff anyway id like (with DM approval.) But I wanted to ask if it was too silly for the general community.
I think the abilities align very well with a sinister fear generating shadow man. What are your thoughts?
That seems perfectly reasonable to me. But before you go down the road of reflavoring a different subclass, you might want to take a look at the "Shadow Magic" subclass from Xanathar's Guide to Everything. It's specifically meant to be for characters tied to the Shadowfell.
I do enjoy the shadow sorcerer, but its made for a very... sneaky, monstrous feeling character in my head (I know, its not.)
I am looking to play a character that is the kind of guy who is more subtle, not flashy, (I have been listening to Old Gods of Appalachia, so the idea of Aberrant creatures living imprisoned in the oldest parts of the world seems so beautiful creepy.)
I guess, I wanna play with the idea of a character that represents the reason why people are afraid of the dark. One who embodies the adrenaline fear that occurs. The aberrant gives the vibes I am going for just a smig better then the shadow does (At least at the moment.)

Best reasons to play a character are for the fun of it - Enjoy!
Sounds like a fun character. It might be worth while to either multiclass with Warlock or take the old Eldritch Adept feat to get Devil's Sight so that you can see in mundane and magical darkness. And, if you played as either a Drow Elf or Infernal Tiefling, you would get the Darkness spell as a species ability.
Whatever you choose, have fun with it.
