A friends wants an Eldritch horror warrior (could be dex/strgth base) Though not necessarily optimized but he's wondering if it works mechanically speaking. He loves roleplaying but he wants to not hate his own character. Also i already told him that Fiend and hex blade are more efficient at it but he's dead solid on Great old ones unless it's too bad or unplayable.

Fun fact. Warlock can be pretty much any subclass and rock the Bladelock style. GoO has some interesting effects for a swordsman. You're gonna wanna go dex though as unlike the Hexblade going strength will make you pretty MAD (Strength for attacks, Dex for defense, Con for health, and Cha for spells!) and perhaps talk to him about taking a level or two in rogue. Getting a swashbuckler combines well and can lead to some fun turns (especially if he has devil sight and darkness going! He'd have normal attacks against targets around him while they have disadvantage on him, plus Swashbuckler lets him trigger his rogue sneak attack without allies nearby!)
I'm going pure Warlock. Kage's right. CHA./DEX. are my main stats. We rolled for our baselines, rather than point buy. I took Armor of Shadows, AC 13+DEX. Good stuff. I'm constantly in the front lines with the option to stay back. I suggest not getting Eldritch Blast (I know, it's shocking). I hope this helps.

DM: Are you sure?
Wizard: Yes. I cast the Wish spell and I wish that everybody loves me!
DM: You transform into an irresistible, magnificent feast. It was so great, all who participated in devouring you tell of the joy they felt with tears in their eyes and all who hear the tale only feel sorrow that they weren't there to eat.

It helps but none of my DMs go other than 27 points. Thanks anyway

The Blade Pact will work with any Patron, including the Great Old Ones. Dex is your friend, but I'd caution against neglecting Charisma. There are simply too many excellent class options which will be unavailable to you if your Charisma score is too low. The best way to strike a balance between Dexterity and Charisma when using point buy is to choose a race with bonuses to both of those abilities. Also, consider the Improved Pact Weapon invocation, so you can use a longbow or crossbow pact weapon. Fighting at range instead of going into melee will be a better option if you don't have enough points for a high Constitution. You'll do damage comparable to Eldritch Blast+Agonizing Blast, and later on you can get the Sharpshooter feat.
Got a level 8 mountin dwarf . 14 10 16 8 14 16 in stats whit the great wepon master feat. My big problem is my lack of spell slot. And my fellow players. I have been able to roll good on hp so I’m at a respectable 79 hp, He is turning more and more into arthas from Warcraft 3. Can’t decide on heavy armor or war caster feat. Whit only 2 spell slot i dont really have any aoes whit one spell slot going to more armor , Counterspell or hex.
My invocation is at the moment the following. Thirsting blade, extra attack is worth its weight in gold. Repelling blast works well whit moving my enemy’s around. One whit shadows work well whit my character and finally sculpture off flesh....well the ability to turn my self or a ally into a t-Rex really annoy my dm.
...that what what now? you mean theres a way for me to have plate armor whitout spending 2 feats on it? Where do i find this additon and how do i convince my dm to be able to use it? Where do i find these extra rules and do they have more rules i should be aware of?
Prerequisite: Pact of the Blade feature As an action, you can touch a suit of armor that isn’t being worn or carried by anyone and instantly don it, provided you aren’t wearing armor already. You are proficient with this suit of armor until it’s removed.
Something to remember is you will still have the strength penalty for heavy armor if you do not have at least a 13 str. You could always multiclass if your DM won't allow you to use the UA features.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Remember that if you take a Dwarf you won't suffer a movement penalty from heavy armour, even if you have insufficient strength.
My personal opinion is that the Mountain Dwarf is the best race to start with if you're trying to build a bladelock other than the Hexblade. You're going to need strength and dexterity but the proficiency with medium armour means that they're not as dependent on dex as they might be otherwise, and proficiency with warhammer/battleaxe will give you a decent weapon until you get pact of the blade.
You can start with Str 17, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 8, Cha 15, then go to Str 18/Cha 16 at level 4.
I'd rather be dependant on dex rather than str, unless I am married to the idea of a 2h weapon.

That's fair enough. I suppose my reluctance to go down the dexterity path is that then the pact of the blade is really only summoning a rapier, perhaps a whip. The rest of the weapons options are difficult to wield with low strength.
Of course that's why WotC invented the Hexblade, because bladelocks did get the shaft in the PHB.
Honestly, I'd argue that the longbow is the key to real ultimate non hexblade bladelock power. Smiting a dragon out of the air to get fall damage too would be so, so much fun.

If your DM would allow homebrew, Knight Enchanter for heavy armor prof, or mythral heavy armor counts as medium too. No str required.
Ironically enough, I was allowed a pixie, I have a -2 to strength and am wearing technically heavy armor and I can fly. Broken maby, but its been a fun ludicrous adventure.
A couple of things to ponder. Warlocks are very good at getting advantage and making melee unadvisable against them. They work differently than other melee characters. If you balance your melee with your range and go strength based you end up with 16's in Str and Cha and around a 13-16 AC. If your HP get low you can switch to range and eldritch blast pretty quickly. If you play them like a regular brawler you will die. Going Githyanki or Mountain Dwarf can get you medium armor. Same if you pick up med armor feat from var human or custom lineage. Generally I multiclass with something to pick up the armor that way. Starting with a level of fighter gets you constitution saves and for a str/cha bladelok doesn't require additional ability score distribution. Cleric is a little harder since you need wisdom in addition to str/cha but gets you great toys for one level.

I say go for GoO. It's a super flavorful patron.
I'm playing that build right now.

Concept is awesome, as is any character concept that a player is excited to play. There’s always a way to make it decent mechanically.
Blade lock works well with any patron, just prioritize str/dex and con over cha and choose defensive magic
If spells aren’t important, Barbarian might fit the concept better (a warrior unhinged by contact with an elder being).
The combination kind of feels like there should be a specific invocation... like an improved Entropic Ward

It's Unearthed Arcana; they are playtest rules so not official yet. I'll try to find a link for you.

That's true. Eldritch Smite can be used through a bow if it's the pact weapon unlike Divine Smite.
