Hey, quick question. I play a lvl 4 bard lvl 2 warlock and I am struggling with figuring out my spell casting lvl for the warlock. Using ddb, it treats me as a lvl 6 cast for my warlock spells, however, my group says I am only the lvl 2. Anyone have info on how to determine which is correct and have the back up for it.. .Thank you.
I quote here below the rule when multiclassing with the warlock class:
Pact Magic. If you have both the Spellcasting class feature and the Pact Magic class feature from the warlock class, you can use the spell slots you gain from the Pact Magic feature to cast spells you know or have prepared from classes with the Spellcasting class feature, and you can use the spell slots you gain from the Spellcasting class feature to cast warlock spells you know.
So, you a level 2 warlock for the number of pact spell slots you have, but you can cast any spell to you know or have prepared with those.
Some spells are based on character level, not caster level. So your 6th level character would be cast Eldritch Blast as if 6th level instead of 2nd level for example.

Perpetually annoyed that Eldritch Knights can't use Eldritch Blast, Eldritch Smite, and Eldritch Sight.
Right so. Pact magic use to confuse the crap out of me, especially the entry and cantrips and all the stuff that affects it. But! Here's the easy version.
You basically have three groups of magic right now. Your pact magic (which goes off your warlock level and recharge on a short rest)n the "regular magic" (which goes off your bard level and recharge on a long rest) and cantrips (which are based on your character level, not the individual classes.)
Which means you have two first level slots (short rest) four level 1 slots (long rest) three level 2 slots (long rest) and your cantrips have been improved (as in, eldritch blast now strikes twice. Fire bolt would deal 2d10, etc)

Hope that helps!
Helps me a lot..now if I can get my group to accept this. They have only been allowing me to use Elditch Blast as 1d10.

Show them that if they still doubt you.
