Is Maddening Hex included in Xanathar's Guide to Everything in the Marketplace? I do not see it under Spells to purchase...
It's not a spell to purchase. It is in Xanathar's guide by the way. I'm not sure what under, but I imagine if you buy the Warlock it should all be unlocked.
I have read this thread over and over and I have to say that I disgrace with the conclusions that have been made.
First maddening hex is an extension of the hex spell or hexblades curse. Which means once the curse is over so is the maddening hex. Hexblade curse only lasts 1 minute and hex lasts 1 hour but it requires concentration. So if you break concentration, there goes the maddening hex...it should end. Also it states that maddening hex creates a psychic disturbance 5 feet around the target. So if someone moves away from the target they can no longer be affected by the madness. At least that's how I would interpret it. Now granted it would still be a great way to cause damage to a target (1 to 5points a round). But it would not last 3 days later as some have suggested. What do you think?
The 24 hours is from higher level casts of the spell hex. Sign of ill omen can grant bestow curse which can last longer. Also invocations don’t expire. So as long as you can see a target within 30ft of you affected by hex/curse you can use this feature as a bonus action to do damage.
would a familiar count as line of sight? I mean your familiar could see the target but you cant... also hex is concentration so you cant simply look through your familiar's eyes because that would break your concentration right?
While your familiar is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any Special Senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own Senses.
It doesn't say that looking through your familiar's eyes takes concentration, it just says that you're deaf and blind in your own body when doing so.
Add the Voice of the chain master and you could keep following your hexed target around forever.
Voice of the Chain Master
Prerequisite: Pact of the Chain feature You can communicate telepathically with your familiar and perceive through your familiar's senses as long as you are on the same plane of existence. Additionally, while perceiving through your familiar's senses, you can also speak through your familiar in your own voice, even if your familiar is normally incapable of speech.
But Maddening Hex does throw a wrench in it ...
Maddening Hex
Prerequisite: 5th level, Hex spell or a warlock feature that curses As a bonus action, you cause a psychic disturbance around the target cursed by your Hex spell or by a warlock feature of yours, such as Hexblade’s Curse and Sign of Ill Omen. When you do so, you deal psychic damage to the cursed target and each creature of your choice within 5 feet of it. The psychic damage equals your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 damage). To use this invocation, you must be able to see the cursed target, and it must be within 30 feet of you.
Maddening hex does say it must be within 30 feet of YOU (not your familiar) so I suppose that won't work, but you could easily be out of line of sight with your quasit invisible looking at the target with you viewing through its eyes.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I kind of think some of this should be built into the feature, the hex should allow you to target them with this without needing to see them and the range should be increased not unlimited range, but 120 feet or something would not be insane. Same with relentless hex, give some oomph to being hexed. Heck I'd add a invocation that lets you target people with enchantment or illusion spells without needing to see the target or need to have line of effect if they are hexed.
This is at best a lack luster invocation, it could use something.

Does Maddening Hex pair with Dissonant whispers
I do not believe so, as Dissonant Whispers doesn't say the word "curse" in the spell description.
Nope, it's specific to hex and curse.

Bonus actions are actions. Otherwise, you could take bonus actions while stunned.
