Warlocks are not support, not skills, not social. They are magical attackers, not support. Aka Gish.
I would very much beg to differ on the idea that Warlocks cannot be strong in the social area and strong at support. Pact of the Chain Warlocks with the Actor feat and Mask of Many Faces plus the Friends cantrip is an excellent scout, spy and solver of social problems. A lot of players think too much in the Hexblade lane because all they focus on is DPR. A well built Warlock can also be the party's face (or faces). ==( 8 P)

I think that many people auto pick Agonizing Blast and Devil's Sight. They then look at what is left for their invocations and think they don't have room for the utility/ support options. While many of the invocations that would be better support invocations are either limited to casting on self, casting with a Warlock Spell slot once per long rest, or both, there are still some options that can lend support. Some might require more imaginative play than some are comfortable with. Misty visions can be used to great effect to provide cover and simulate effects like fog cloud (DM approval pending). The builds for a warlock support tend to look different than the average Warlock build because invocations and spell selection are limited but very customizable for different situations. Also, a support Warlock is a great candidate for Inspired Leader feat!
Im currently playing a Genielock (marid) as a kind of utility support and believe me when i tell you, it really is not all that good. I have misty visions and its never that good cause i would typically rather be holdinng concentration on the actual fog cloud spell in combat.
Im trying my best but its really rough, and in most combat situations i feel pretty useless ngl
