So awhile back I was just getting into D&D and chose a Warlock to play as. I chose the fiend as a patron because that’s all I had available at the time. I ended up choosing the Greek god Hecate because she is the goddess of magic and the moon. It seemed fitting even tho she’s not a fiend. Lately I’ve been thinking I could create a homebrew for her as a ‘Moon Diety’ and have different benefits depending on the phase of the moon. Also doing some changes like turning ‘eldritch blast’ into ‘lunar blast’ with invocations still applying the same way. I have written down some stuff and would like some feedback if this sounds cool or not and if some of the benefits might be too much or too strong.
Otherwise the Drow Goddess Elistraee is also a Moon Goodess so you might be able to pinch some of her lore and some of the Twilight Domain cleric abilities to cobble togetther a good Warlock class. Te UA version of the Twilight Domain is here https://media.wizards.com/2019/dnd/downloads/UA-TwilightFireNames.pdf I think it got made official somewhere.

Unearthed Arcana is official, playtest material. The Raven Queen Patron was not selected for additional development or may have turned into the Hexblade. I don't recall for certain.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Not to go off-topic, but I enjoy the flexibility that 5E gives when it comes to figuring out these things.
For instance, I'm a huge fan of the psionic flavor that the Great Old One subclass offers. What I'm doing with the character I'll be using at some point (hopefully when we get a Dark Sun update AND assuming I get to play for a change - LOL) is having my patron be the psionic master that I'm apprenticed to. It will be a Monk multiclass, so the patron will have a sort of "psionic sensei" feel, and will be an active part of my character's career. I like the idea of my character having a very real obligation to the person who's responsible for his development. Not to mention that the warlock's power is supposed to have a cost; this will allow the DM to leverage that.
But yeah, Whimsy. I am LOVING the whole "Moonfire" feel you're going for with your character. I'm ALL about reflavoring spell and class feature text to make it fit an interesting, cohesive concept. Like, the character I mentioned will be all about the telepathy and telekinesis, so at the table I'll be describing my Eldritch Blast as either psychokinetic pulses or my character ripping loose debris from the environment to batter the bad guys with. And I will ABSOLUTELY be spending my first two Invocation slots on Repelling Blast and Grasp of Hadar.
That's the thing I love about the Warlock. The different patrons have WILDLY different feels to them. It's almost like it's BEGGING you to get cool and creative.

There is a very old Unearthed Arcana article for a raven queen patron for warlock that might be worth a look at: https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/20170213_Wizrd_Wrlck_UAv2_i48nf.pdf

Nice, thank you for these. Is the unearthed arcana unofficial stuff that has been made non-canon? (Not sure that’s the right word)

Two thumbs up, Kiddo!
It was split into hexblade and undying.
Love this idea.
