I'm currently playing a level 8 Wizard with pyromancer flare. I finally got to learn summon minor elemental and was super exited until i realized the casting time is 1 minute, Super bad for battle!!
my question is has anyone come up with a good way too lower that cast time? I really wanna keep the spell on my prepared list full time but it seems like a waste of spell if I have to take 10 rounds to summon or predict a fight before it happens lol.
You basically have to summon it outside of combat, and have it follow you around. That is why the duration of the spell is so long once you have cast it.
Yeah, conjuring anything tends to be a big deal. Action economy is king in 5th edition, and having a whole separate entity fighting for you gives you an unbelievable edge.
But spell layering isn't really a thing in 5e, so pick your concentration spell wisely.
Why do Druids have the ability to cast most of their Conjuration spells in one action, then? Summoning a bunch of Pixies in the mids of combat is very, very powerful. WotC could at least give wizards the ability to conjure minor elementals in one action.

yeah that's what I thought, makes it less good seeing you have to hold concentration for the 8 hours lol.
cheers for the reply!
At level 9, you probaly are able to learn Planar Binding, in order to extend the time of the elemental on the material plane.
