…gained the ability to ignore charm immunity as their subclass capstone?
“Alter Memories” is a potent capstone under the right circumstances; but the experimental part of me wonders if these proclaimed “masters” of Enchantment should have the rare ability to affect the minds of creatures who would normally be unaffected by such charms?
Or is ignoring immunity to charm at higher levels a mechanic that will horribly derail a GM’s plans; and is a power that’s best left locked away?
Reinforcing that not all Enchantment spells actually causes charming. Command, Tasha’s Hideous Laugher and even Hold Person.
Command is one of my favorite spells for that very reason.
Just recently, a character I had for a one-shot used “Command” to halt a lighthouse from disintegrating a shipping vessel, wasting it’s actions for that turn.
is this lighthouse, like, a sentient being? Because I'm reasonably sure that command only affects creatures.
right?
It was apparently a massive crystal elemental from some eldritch space; that was “wearing” the lighthouse as a shell.
If that sounds weird; imagine our surprise when it happened.
It was also kind of brilliant; we thought that something had been sinking ships near the abandoned lighthouse…we didn’t anticipate it “being” the lighthouse.
My Fire Genasi Pirate was doing dances on the beach when he realized his “Command” worked (he also thought he was going mad).
Our Rune Knight Fighter & Four Elements Monk were the ones who only had “some” idea of what was going on…because they were hanging off the side of the lighthouse when it decided to float up off the ground.

Well, it can be kind of frustrating for the DM if a wizard walked up to a dragon and all of a sudden they became best buddies.

EXACTLY.

…oh yeah…the lighthouse was floating, too.
God, what a fun session that turned out to be.
It is more applicable to Clerics, but I often find my useful upcast Command than cast the beloved Spiritual Weapon spell people used to love.
