You can use the old subclasses with the new 2024 rules, you just won't get any of your subclass feature until level 3 when you get to pick your subclass. So in the case of the Necromancer, your subclass ability Grim Harvest will come online at level 3 instead of level 2 as it did under 2014 rules.
Well, that's not quite accurate. Basically you're home brewing that. Technically the answer should be 'no, you can't'. I have a half-orc Necromancer wizard who I refuse to remake as 5.5e...because you you can't. You are going to be bastardising the rule sets and winging it. While I genuinely like most of the 5.5e changes, they are NOT as compatible as spruiked. Until Necromancer becomes a 5.5e subclass the answer is no. It apparently is in the works and I look forward to it, but until then you have only Evocation, Divination, Illusion, and Abjuration to choose from.

It's perfectly fine to have that restriction at your table, but that is not what the official word from WOTC is on this issue.
I know. The WOTC word is that everything is rainbows and sunshie. The issue is that there IS conflict in the data; compatible implies no contradictions or problems.
To what where you referring if you disagree with me?

I don’t really know what you’re trying to say here. What’s data are you talking about? What contradictions or problems are there with using the 2014 College of Necromancy subclass with the 2024 Wizard class?

WOTC designed 5.5e to be backwards compatible with 5e. Unless your DM has any restrictions on using subclasses from older books (and this is not 6e, but 5.5e), you should be able to use it perfectly fine.
Most of the DMs in the stores I play at are rapidly migrating to only 2024 rules. I suspect you just need to ask your DM what they'll allow at their table.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a 5e Class with 5e 2024 character creation rules?

yes, if you also buy the PHB 2014 digital.
