I see witch bolt as working with that logic not misty step. Witch bolt I don't get the argument against. Almost all spells launch from the wizard. So for me it always works. For misty step you are casting it from another location sure, but your body is still where it is so can only move 30 feet. It would gain some perks as misty step as a sight line requirement so this would let you teleport past walls with misty step which is pretty big but it would not let you teleport 300 feet. Counter spell im on the fence on personally, it depends on if you think the manifest mind is going through the motions so to speak to cast the spell, if it is speaking/moving to emulate S/v components I can see it. On a game balance side I think it should this ability is broken AF either way but that al least reigns it in a smidgen.
For the purposes of the spell, your body is where the Manifest Mind is. So you're still only teleporting 30', even if the Spectral Mind is 300' away. RAW doesn't make a distinction between "you" and "your body".
The thing with that is that you can cast the spell from the manifest mind, so it would be up to 30 ft to a spot that you can see through the manifest mind

And yet the spell can only move your body 30 feet. so no matter where it is cast from you will only move 30 feet from where your body is at. The win with manifest mind and misty step is it allows you to see places you normally couldn't so that pesky that you can see requirement is neutered. Which changes what is almost a pure combat teleport into a get where you are not supposed to be teleport with a 2nd level slot.
Manifest mind is already a broken feature, no need to break it further.

Nobody is "trying to break it further", this is just how it works RAW. If you consider that broken, then that is why houserules exist.
And yet the spell can only move your body 30 feet.
RAW, your body occupies the space of the Manifest Mind for the purposes of casting spells. There is no distinction in the rules between "you" and "your body".

Yes people are,. And no it isn't RAW. Casting As if you are in a location is not the same as actually being in the location. Your body literally is in a different location, it is not actually where the manifest mind is. It is cast AS IF, it is in that location. But, where the spell is cast does not effect where your body actually is. Here is the dictionary defintion of as if.
Notice the lady is not actually made of ice. The meeting did end. So no you are not actually there, and the teleport spells move your actual bodies so where they actually are is what matters not where the spell was cast from.

Well yes, but the same goes for literally all other spells (ie they are cast from your body, so where your body actually is is what matters). The rules do not make a special case for teleportation spells that makes them in-principle any different from any other spells. If you can find rules that do (or we get a Sage Advice), then you will have an argument.

I'm not sure what you are arguing then. Your actual body can teleport up to 30 feet with this spell that is what it does. Your manifest mind being 100 feet away wont make the spell now teleport you up to 130 feet away. Letting you even teleport at all might even be a generous take as the range is self and you are casting it in a place where there is no self so another RAW interpretation would be that the spell just fails.
Shadowolf who I responded to initially in this chain was implying the 30' range starts at where the manifest mind is vastly increasing the teleports range. Which works for things like fireball. but it does not work for things with a range of self as self is also the target.
