I would like to use the D&D Beyond Character Builder and Campaigns feature for games I run at virtual conventions. The games are one-shots using pre-generated characters, and I would reuse them with a different group of players every time I run the game.
As near as I can tell, the best/only way I can do this today is to create the six characters, have the players for a session choose them, and then unassign them at the end of the session. The players for the next session would then claim them. Is that correct?
Easier ways would be to allow copying of campaigns, copying characters into new campaigns, or allowing the DM to unassign characters. As near as I can tell, none of these options are supported.
I would suggest you create your pre-gens. Then copy each pre-gen and add the copies to the campaign. That way you don't have to rely on players remembering to unassign at the end of the game, and you don't have to reset the pre-gens to their pre-game state. For the next campaign, make new copies and add them. As far as I know, there is not currently a way to copy campaigns
