Getting ready for a new game, and I just noticed that many of the race entries in the compendium are overloaded with Eberron options. Not just options, but a truly staggering amount of lore and worldbuilding that is only relevant to Eberron. Does the compendium have to work like this? Is there anyway to separate the content in the Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron like the other expansion books have been separated?
I would love to be able to point new players who haven't purchased a Player's Handbook yet to D&D Beyond (instead of just linking them the PDF of the Basic Rules like I used to do), but having all that Eberron stuff there is a) Overwhelming and confusing to new players, and b) Not useful for most games.
I just feel like a simpler, more streamlined approach would be way more accessible and useful to pretty much everyone. Can this be done?
You can just collapse each source of races. Eberron races are in their own section away from other sources. You can also disable Eberron content in the Character Builder with a slider.
@xuebao61, he wasn't talking about the character builder or compendium base classes, he was talking about the 14 (is it 14?) Dragonmarked race variants of humans, half elves, half orcs, and halflings and 4 elf variants.
I'm inclined to agree, the compendium can get bogged down with extra content.
This is definitely an annoying issue. Especially because the Eberron content is not marked as such, it is very confusing when looking through the compendium and trying to figure out what's what. I don't even own the Eberron book, so it's strange I can see it at all.
I think the Eberron race data is still UA so everyone can see/use it, even if they don't own Wayfarer's Guide to Eberron.
I am all for separating the various extra sub-races, etc down below the PHB data, and clearly marking them with their respective sources.
I suspect though, that they may be holding off until they have completed the source management system they have been talking about. Once that is complete, it may be much easier to filter/sort the data automatically, instead of doing it all by hand.
I think the answer is better organization of the race/class pages, so that the subclasses and subraces can be organized by source. It's nice being able to look at all the options in one place, but as the number of options grows, better organization becomes more important.

(love the new UI btw, well done)

Ah, okay, I see what they mean now.

Sorting by source/setting is probably the best way to go.
And it would be nice if each section was collapsable like on (mobile) wiki pages.
I suspect you may be correct. :)
