during my time using DND beyond I've come to find myself with a few recurring members show up in for forums, so what I was wondering if a friend feature could be added to this sight if you wanted to just shot them a quick chat and maybe some other possibilities in the future, just suggesting

Marvarax andSora (Dragonborn) The retired fighter and WIP scholar - Glory
Brythel(Dwarf), The dwarf with a gun - survival at sea
Jaylin(Human), Paladin of Lathander's Ancient ways - The Seven Saints (Azura Claw)
Urselles(Goblin), Cleric of Eldath- The Wizard's challenge
Viclas Tyrin(Half Elf), Student of the Elven arts- Indrafatmoko's Defiance in Phlan
I suppose I'd ask the question: "what would you want feature wise is a friends feature?"
As Erylia mentioned, the follow ability is there to get notified of a user's posting (great for staff posts, or in my case, friends that post so infrequently it means I don't miss their postings). We also have private messages to have direct conversations.

I feel would be helpful for a friend feature is one, letting you send them messages without having to type in there name each time you want to start a different thread, I feel it could also be to check out someone's profile or send character sheets(once that is possible) or maybe even add some crazy duel feature stuff like shared characters or shared homebrew making, just some ideas

Also it would make it easier to connect with the other members of your group and add a community feel that is severely lacking with this site. DnD has always been a social game at its core why would this not have the ability to exist as a community and have a friends list? I would love to be able to find my friends on here, I do of course understand that this may be something that won't be possible for a time. Everything takes time of course but this is a good idea.
The original post was over 5 years ago, and there's still no "Friends" option here at the end of 2023.
I thought I wasn't searching the site hard enough to find where the options are to find my friends, but there just isn't anything available.
This is sad. As a web developer you don't want to drive traffic away from your site, and that's exactly what the lack of this basic feature does.
Process currently:
DM a friend via another app to ask them what their DnDBeyond username is, so you can send a DM within the site. And anytime you want to directly send something via the site, you have to remember their exact username and retype it. You can't set an option to let people know if you're online or not. You can't enable character sheet sharing, so others can view your characters without adding them to a campaign. You can't enable campaign sharing, so others can see the campaigns you've completed or are currently an adventurer in, or any campaigns you are currently DMing. You can't have an open discussion with multiple friends about campaigns, encounters, characters, or any other ideas.
I'm pretty new to this site, so I'm still figuring things out. The main features seem to be character building, and IF someone has digital content AND has a full price subscription, they can share content. That's seems to be it though. The campaign builder doesn't even have basic word processing options - Google Docs is better and I hate google.

You can "follow" another user. That should be close enough to a friends feature, shouldn't it?

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of

I would also like the friend feature, or at least the option to follow the people in your campaign in your campaign screen.

IDK I guess I had higher hopes and expectations.
