I would like the option to allow those in your campaign to read your backstory.
I have found that in some heavy-RP-centric campaigns, having that available to other players can help enrich the storyline, especially if your character has told the other characters the info. That way the players can reference it throughout the game.
I envison the option to the in the main menu tab of the character edit section, just a toggle after the public toggle, asking if you want your player's backstory to be viewable to the rest of the campaign or not.
Agreed. This option would allow for members of the group to see and understand the other players more. It's also a way to motivate players to create their own backstory as well since they know it can be viewable.
Maybe a viewable Summary section? There are plenty of times a player puts some sensitive information in their "Backstory" section that may be hidden information. I think it's valuable for players to be able to write that stuff out on their character sheet.
I can agree with this! I hate have to tell each party member my back story, or let’s spend an hour having a campfire session just to get to know you party...
I think its weird you can't even see the physical description of other characters. I mean my character is standing right in front of them, I can see how tall and stuff they are.

The notes section is private. I am specifically asking for the backstory section to be viewable if the player chooses. I completely agree that sometimes this stuff shouldn't be public from time to time.

I do totally agree, but also my players use Notes for actual note-taking about the campaign as well. I know it's a bit larger of an ask, but an added Summary section would be my preference.
Those sections were left unshared on purpose for folks who wanted to maintain the mystery of their characters, or those who wanted to RP telling their backstories without spoilers. Originally, the DDB character sheet was intended for use by folks who were sitting around a physical table in the same room with one another. So I guess they figured if you wanted them to read it you could simply hand them your device for a moment, no big deal. Things haven’t turned out that way.
They are working on adding a toggle that would enable folks to choose to share the sections of the character sheet that are currently not shared. In fact, I think they are working on something much more than that since there are just as many folks asking to not even have race/class be visible. There are folks who want to be able to hide what is currently hidden, and more as well but less than everything. Since so many folks want so many different levels of transparency to their character sheets, they are most likely trying to program a system to make everybody happy.
They have heard your requests and are working on it. But they do not give ETAs. We just need to be patient.
I’m nobody. I have just been around long enough to have seen their responses to the last several times people have brought it up, and the folks who bring up all those other requests too.
The people who really deserve your thanks are probably too busy actually trying to fix this stuff to tell you that they’re already trying to figure out how to do it on top of the bajillian other requests that they have also received, and the massive invisible workload they have that most of us have no idea about. I just figured that you folks would want to know that you’re not alone in your requests, and that DDB has heard your request, and put it on their list. I’m just a volunteer messenger, they’re the real deal.

I would love the option to let other players see my characters backstory and vice versa. Only letting the dm see everything isn’t very helpful.
How goes progress? [REDACTED]
