With the Eberron AL rules coming out, player characters are allowed to draw options from three sources: Players Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron. I decided to muck around in the character builder in some free time and look at characters I would be interested in should I find an AL near me. I tried to filter on JUST the available options, but the dropdown is currently a single choice only dropdown box instead of a multi-choice check box. How difficult would it be to change that? I know lots of GMs often limit what book options are available to their players, so I'm sure it would be useful beyond just AL stuff. For instance, if I were running a Greyhawk game, I may want to remove the options in Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron, or the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide. Maybe I don't want to allow Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, so as to avoid Gith in my Spelljammer game or something. Sure, I can always just tell my players "don't use stuff from so and so book", but as the content in D&D Beyond's Character Creator doesn't actually list its source, that isn't extremely helpful.
Am I alone in thinking this would be a useful change?
I think it would very helpful. I'm hoping that the work they plan to do on granular sharing will lay the groundwork for doing this with the character builder, too.
