I'm not sure if this already exists but as far as I know there is no way to create homebrew items in dnd beyond. I know you can make magic items but as of right now that is very restrictive and clunky. I would like the ability to make weapons and other items from scratch without having to base it off of a pre existing item. Can I do this already or is it development or just not happening? For example I want to be able to make a weapon with unique range, damage, modifiers, and properties.
Currently it is not intended to be able to create homebrew mundane items on D&D Beyond - this may change in the future.
This is on purpose, following the design lead from Wizards of the Coast - the list of weapons in the Player's Handbook represent all of the balanced combinations of damage & weapon properties. The intention is that any weapon you might want your character to use, you can just select one of the existing weapons and rename it.
You are, of course, welcome to homebrew any items you like for personal use, using the Magic Items homebrew tools. :)
